Visiting Professor to China

Associate Professor Qingguo Li was recently awarded a scholarship through the Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program, which allowed him to carry out research as a visiting Canadian professor at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China during his sabbatical. Global Affairs Canada and the Chinese Ministry of Education offers the short-term scholarships to Canadians wishing to study abroad in China. His testimonial was recently posted on the International Scholarship’s website.

Throughout the visit Professor Li worked with professors at the university and carried out research in the field of biomechanics and rehabilitation. His research covered topics such as the biomechanics and benefits of bamboo pole-based weight carrying, and wearable sensors for human movement monitoring. He continues to be directly involved in co-supervising eight Chinese students (three at the PhD level, two at the Master’s level and three at the undergraduate level) on their thesis work. Several international journal articles are currently being prepared based on the research.

The competition is open to faculty, students and professionals for the 2017-2018 year and closes March 6, 2017.
